In early December, PYPW-WYPW played its role as Youth Partner in organizing the World Youth Summit for Peace (WYSP) that was held in Pakistan, under the leadership of International Human Right Commission (IHRC) , from 10-12 December 2016. In this summit, while the Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nepal and Tunisia participated, youth leaders from 16 countries also took part of this summit. Youth ambassadors and diplomats of different countries played their role in providing peaceful messages to the global community through unity and solidarity.
Here are a few highlights and latest news from PYPW :
1- During the Inaugural Session of the Summit, Pakistan Youth Parliament for Water (PYPW) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with globally well-recognized organization entitled “Women for Water Partnership (WfWP)” & Earth for Ever Foundation Bulgaria which was the witnessed by high signatures, former Prime Ministers of Nepal, Pakistan and diplomats based in Pakistan as well representative of Pakistan Planning Commission (Ministry of Planning Development & Reform-Pakistan, in the light of this MoU PYPW and WfWP as well Earth for Ever in South Asia Region, Bulgaria in Youth Engagement for Water and Climate Change Sector to win the Vision of GWP “A Water Secure World”.
2- During this Summit PYPW Lead an activity of Youth Signature Campaign (Charter of Demand) for Water and Climate Change ( same as we run in the Stockholm World Water Week 2016). This was signed by all the dignitaries, diplomats, youth leaders, media and civil societies’ representatives.
3- PYPW lead a youth dialogue for the Water and Climate Change challenges and opportunities for the next generation.
4- PYPW played very important role for developing the Islamabad Youth Declaration which were later on signed by the three Prime Ministers of different countries, youth leaders and delegates.
5- PYPW organized the Youth Election to elect the Permanent General Secretary of the World Youth Summit for Peace (WYSP). In the result of election, Ms.Anahi from Mexico elected for the next three years to play her role as a General Secretary of the Summit.
6- PYPW organized the activity of Plant for Peace in which all the high level officials and youth leaders plant their trees with their name plates considering that with eradication of inter-generation gaps and unity we can combat the impact of Climate Change with inclusion of youth.
7- PYPW also organized the activity the Youth Awareness Walk for Water and Climate Change for creating a peaceful and sustainable future.
8- PYPW also organized the Youth Declaration/Pledge for the Water and Climate Change for making this planet peaceful and providing human rights inclusively.
9- PYPW as an official Organizing Partner of this summit with International Human Right Commission and next summit will be organized in Tunisia in 2017 as the Former Prime Minister of Tunisia request to host this summit in Tunisia which was accepted by Chair of IHRC.
10- Former Prime Minister of Tunisia H.E. Mr.Hamadi Jebali delivered PYPW an Award of Excellence during the closing ceremony of the summit.
11- We distributed the GWP-Youth Strategy to all the International, National youth leaders, civil societies, media, Prime Ministers of three countries and also they raised their hands to show the unity and solidarity with PYPW-WYPW-ISW and GWP to empower the youth in all its manners. It was our pleasures to represent the water network in this summit with the International & National Youth Leaders.
